WIG TRIAL: Sailor Moon/ Neo-Queen Serenity Wig

Hey guys! I am so happy that I received my Sailormoon pre-order wig last time. Again, I commend my trusted wig shop Kirei Itami for the wonderful transaction. This is the second time that I pre-ordered a wig from them and again I am very satisfied with our transaction just like last time.

Anyway, the wig arrived on time and in great condition. It was not squished or destroyed during the transport.

Tada!! Look how compact the wig is. That's why it's in perfect condition when I received it.

The wig brand is Ayanamisatorou, one of the popular wig brands in the market that caters high quality and durable wigs in many designs. I have read a lot of good reviews on this wig so I tried it out.

I will write a full review on this wonderful wig soon. <3 Watch out for that!

Thank you for visiting. Have a nice day.

My Oiran Accessory Style

Remember my Geisha-inspired photo shoot with my friends last February? Well, a photographer sent me a message telling me that she loved my version of a geisha and she asked me to model for her for a shoot. Of course I said yes! Who can say no to a photographer taking interest in cosplay and Japanese fashion?

So for the upcoming shoot with this certain photographer, I am going to upgrade my geisha-look into an Oiran-inspired kimono get up. (For Oiran information, click here and here.)
I will explain what an Oiran is soon. :)

Only a handful of photographers take interest in cosplay here in our city. Cosplaying and dressing up is not very popular here and we are still labeled 'weird' by the people who don't understand our hobby. By inviting other photographers to our cosplay shoots, we introduce to them the wonders of the hobby of dressing up.

At least, some of the photographers we invited appreciated our hard work at the end of every session

This is what I came up after searching modern oiran looks and get ups. I used my kanzashi and fabric flowers for this. Red is used to convey strong themes about the personality I will be playing on the photo shoot. I will be using modern artistic styles on the makeup (in contrast to the previous geisha shoot where I followed the traditional geisha makeup style). I already have a reference for the makeup! I can't wait to do a trial for everything.

I am also planning to buy another kimono to layer it with my black one. And of course the obi tie will be in front. I will be using my creativity on this get up instead of following the traditional look of the Oiran. I will be trying on a wig in one of the trials. I want to incorporate ancient hairstyles of the Chinese (which I found very fascinating while watching the movie 'Saving General Yang'.) Can't wait!
. ^_^

I am planning to watch the movie 'Sakuran'. It's a story of an oiran who rose to fame after being a maid girl. The plot sounded like Memoirs of a Geisha. I need a lot of reference for the poses, facial expressions, makeup and fashion. I hope this movie will give me a lot of ideas.

That's it! Watch out for my trail posts soon. ^_^

Thank you for reading!

Cosplay Work in Progress: Neo-Queen Serenity

Hey guys! I joined a cosplay group shoot: Sailor Senshi and my character is the Neo Queen Serenity! Neo Queen Serenity is the older Usagi, the queen of Crystal Tokyo.

Sailormoon is, I guess, the first anime that I watched.. EVER. I was shouting "mun-crystal-pawer-make-ar" when she's transforming to fight those goons. (Yes, that should be "Moon Crystal Power, Make-up" but the heck, I was 3!) I adore Usagi so much and I decided to portray her.

Image from Google
In the cosplay group that I joined, the default Usagi or Sailormoon was taken by another cosplayer so I chose to cosplay Neo Queen Sereniy. She's the mature version of Usagi and I wanted to learn more about her, and I think cosplaying her will let me learn a lot about this character.

I started working with this cosplay by reading a lot about Neo Queen Serenity. I also googled cosplay photos of her so that I may get an idea how to portray her during the shoot.

Her cosplay is pretty simple. The only difficult part is the gown and wings, I guess. She does not have a specific shoe design so I will be using my white dolly shoes.

I finished making her crown, earrings and moon face mark a few days ago. I was planning to have a real tiara made but after thinking it over, I decided to do it myself because really, I think that's the fun part in cosplaying... making the props all by your self. :)

Making the props yourself is a good way of saving money!
I printed out a template taken from the Internet for her tiara. I used craft foam and gems for the details. I glued them on a hard plastic folder to make it sturdy. <3

Derpy girl wearing a tiara. I cant't wait to order her wig!! <3
So that's it for now. I am planning to head to my seamstress to have her gown made. I hope she won't charge me a lot for it! LOL

Thank you for reading and watch out for my Neo Queen Serenity Cosplay! <3

WIG REVIEW: Alice Cosplay Wig from Vanity Lair

Hey guys! remember my previous post on a new cosplay wig bought online? Now it's time for a full review on a cosplay wig brand Alice Wigs (or Ywailisi) from an online shop called Vanity Lair

Disclaimer: I bought this wig with my own money. I was not paid or sponsored to do this review.

I know buying from online shops on Facebook is a bit risky but I made sure that the shop is legit before filling up an order form. You guys should do that too if you are going to buy online for the first time. Take note of the proofs of the shops like real feedback from previous customers of the shop. It is important to be very sure before sending in your money for a product. A lot of these shops require full payment before sending in your order so if you are not sure about the legitimacy of an online shop, do not transact from it.

A little about the shop:
Vanity Lair is an online shop on Facebook that sells cosmetic lenses, hair dyes and different brands of cosplay wigs. Most of the cosplay wigs are on-hand (readily available) and they ship nationally, but buyers can also opt for meetup in buying wigs and other products.

Link
Shop's Description of the Product:

1,350PHP

ALL WIGS ARE HEAT RESISTANT
~FREE SHIPPING FOR NCR; ADD 50PHP FOR PROVINCIAL
~FREE WIG CAP

So the product that I bought from them is Panty's wig - Alice Brand which is on hand. That time, I had a bit of a problem in the mode of payement. I did not have enough GCASH credits to buy the wig but the owner suggested that the remaining balance can be paid with cellphone load. The owner was understanding and patient during our conversation online. So after completing the payment, the owner informed me that the wig will arrive by Monday or Tuesday (I placed my order and completed the payment on Friday).

And so it arrived on Tuesday.
The wig arrived on time, which is a plus to the seller. I really dread delayed arrival of products because of my previous experience with a shop some time ago (I bought a wig from a shop once, and it arrived UBER LATE. So late, that I missed a photoshoot, the time where I was supposed to wear the wig. Instead of anger, I felt so sad that time that I actually thought of giving up cosplay!).

Anyway, here is a set of photos of the wig that I got. I did not enhance any of the following photos to show the actual color and quality of the wig.

Opening of the package...
Wig was enclosed in a bubble wrap.
Wig was with original tag.  No special wrapping whatsoever.
The wig was packed properly, complete with the wig net that held the entire wig.
The order came with a free skin-tone wig cap. Yay!
Shot of the length of the wig.
The wig is made of Kanekalon fibers, is heat resistant (can be ironed and curled) and the length reaches my butt. It was heavier than I expected, I actually thought that it will not be as thick as Gakupo since it only costed me about 1350PHP. (my Gakupo wig, as seen here, is about 1800PHP). Actually, this wig is really cheap (usually, long wigs like this will cost you about 1800PHP to 2000PHP in other shops or other brands) yet the quality is as good as the Grand Young Brand or Lucaille Brand, which is a bit pricey than other wig brands.

Here is a close-up photo of the wig fibers (with flash). It's the same as my Gakupo wig - Lucaille brand.

I think the color of the wig (which is yellow) is perfect for Panty of Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt since the anime was drawn in American cartoon style, and Panty's hair is really yellow rather than the real blonde.

Panty and Stocking
So for the photos of yours truly with the wig...
Instead of the normal SELCA (Self Capture) and webcam shots that I did on my previous trials and reviews, this time I had an actual mini-shoot with the product. Some of the photos were taken by my brother.

Without flash, outdoor light.
The following photos were taken outside, without using flash. Photos were not enhanced in anyway to show the color and quality of the wig. I only added the watermark.

Wig is not very shiny on this shot. It actually reminded me of mango-flavored ice cream. :D
I have Panty's red stilettos for the default version. :)

Without flash, enhanced.
The following photos were taken without flash and were enhanced using a photo-editing software.

I still need to trim the bangs and add more spikes to make it look like Panty's hair.

I was impressed by how my brother take photos. :D

With flash.
The following photos were taken with flash but were not enhanced in anyway. I only added the watermark.

Oh yeah, this one is SELCA. :D
I-am-thinking-of-something.jpeg. HAHA

With flash, enhanced.
The following photos were taken with flash and were enhanced using a photo-editing software.

I do really love this pair of red shoes!
Okay, same pose - different angle. LOL

In conclusion...
I like the overall quality of the wig. It did not have a moment of massive hair loss during the trial. The color is not really blinding and was close to the product photo from the company. The fibers are thick and strong - which is surprising for a low-priced wig. The transaction with the shop was good and the product arrived on the expected date. The shop owner was considerate on the modes of payment, even though I was a first-time customer of hers.

Would you recommend this wig brand to other cosplayers?
Yes! I think it's a great brand for a low price. Quality is similar to other brands that I have seen personally but is a bit cheaper (slash about a couple of hundred pesos from the price). For cosplayers out there, this brand is definitely worth your money. I would also like to recommend the shop, Vanity Lair. My first transaction with them is great. I might buy wigs from this shop in the future.

And that's it! I hope you guys like my review on this product. What brand do you want me to review next? Comment your thoughts below!

Work-in-progress: New cosplay wig for an upcoming cosplay!

Acting like I just got out of the TV. :)

Hey guys!! My order from a new shop just came in and I am very much satisfied with the transaction!

I ordered my Panty cosplay for a shoot from Vanity Lair, an online shop that sells wigs and lenses especially for cosplayers. It's my first time to buy from this shop and I was a bit nervous upon ordering a wig from it (I always feel anxious when this happens. Wigs are a bit expensive and I cannot afford to be scammed just by anybody!)

Anyway, I am going to write a full review on this order and a bit on the shop. Maybe in the future I might feature this shop here if my future transactions with them will be flow as well as this one. Watch out for it!

Here are a few photos of the package and the wig. Enjoy!

The package arrived as expected!

MAKEUP REVIEW: LANDBIS Mini Cute Pink Liquid Eyeliner - Black

Hey there! So this is another makeup review on a product from KKCENTERHK.com
The LANDBIS Mini Cute Pink Liquid Eyeliner - Black

I love the packaging of this product. It looked very special to me.

The company's description of the liner:
  • Brand New With Original Retail Packing Box
  • 100% Authentic
  • The total length 11.3cm
  • Mini size of liquid eyeliner is more convenience for fixing make up.
  • More convenience put it into your mini hand bag when you dressed up to night party.
  • Allows for a quick and precise application of eyeliner.
  • Last all day without any flaking, smudging, smearing or streaking.
  • Net Weight 1.25g
  • Price: USD$10.99
Tip of the liner
The pen tip of the liner is also very fine, which is advantageous in drawing the lines on the eyes. For me, I was able to apply very nice and clean lines on the first try. The ink also dries of quicker than dip liners, which is what I love about pen liners. Application is very easy and it gives out fine and precise lines, and it did not smudge off my eyes when I drew a few lines.

More on this liner:
  • Very cute appearance, a pink pen liner that is easy to keep and carry.
  • I did not feel any irritation after using it.
  • No funny smell of any kind.
  • The liner can be easily removed using makeup-remover
Dislikes:
  • Not waterproof. It will smudge if you tear up or sweat.
  • The ink/liner is not very black even after a few swipes.
Would I recommend this product?
Yes! I think it's a great eyeliner that's worth your money.

That's all guys! I hope you liked my review! What do you love about pen liners? Tell me all about it on the comment box!

Winky!

MAKEUP REVIEW: CUICU Flashing Diamond Single EyeShadow- Blueviolet

Happy New Year, dear readers!! How's the munching over there? If you ask me, I think I ate a lot of oranges this new year. Not much on the dishes since we did not prepare any festive dish last new year's eve.

Anyway, today I present another makeup review on an eyeshadow that I got from KKCENTERHK.com.

Product name: CUICU Flashing Diamond Single EyeShadow- Blueviolet
CUICU  No. 23
make-up
FLASHING DIAMOND POWDER EYE SHADOW
NET: 4.2g

The packaging of the product was nicely done. The product I received is brand new, with 4.2 grams for 4.83USD.

The swatch.
What I love about this product:

In my opinion, the eyeshadow came out purple in color. I applied it on and the shade appears to be thick and highly pigmented. Blending the shade with pink was easy to do and the color combination came out great.

Anyway, I really loved this product because it is easy to use. As you can see on the following photos, I applied eyeshadow on my eyebrows (this is usually done when doing cosplay makeup) and it came out well. I think this is a good product for my Gakupo Kamui cosplay.

The product does not have any funny smell, which is good for me. I am really not into products that gives out a weird smell. It turns me off. LOL

With camera flash.

No flash, indoor light

The shade with the star is the other color that I used in this review. I tried blending it with the purple eyeshadow.

Would you recommend this product?
Yes! I think this is a great eyeshadow for a Gakupo Cosplay Makeup. It matched the color of my wig and I am definitely going to use this in one of my future cosplays!

FIRST VLog: Everyday Makeup Kit

Hey guys! At last I mustered all up my courage and made my very first Video Blog. This video is all about what I have in my everyday makeup kit. I usually bring this whenever I go out for classes or running errands and such.

Forgive everything about the video. I am no public speaker nor a video editor. I am still learning this art from the Internet and other video bloggers on youtube.

Constructive comments are very much needed! I want to improve my VLogging skills a lot. :)

I think I am going to film FAQs about my blog next. I hope I can do better next time!

Lelouch Lamperouge Cosplay Teaser

Update update on my newest costume: Lelouch Lamperouge in Ashford Academy uniform! This one is for a supposed shoot but due to some circumstances, I was the only one who prepared for it in the end. I was disappointed about it but when I look at the bright side, I have a cosplay waiting for any shoot or event in the future.

Lelouch Lamperouge
I decided to go for the Ashford Uniform because I wanted to see if the character suits me well or not. Turns out it was fun to piece up the cosplay even though I had a few problems during it's progress. (Link to the :Lelouch's wig ordering problem)

Fabric and photo reference for the seamstress. It's important to print out a large photo of the costume in all the angles especially if the seamstress that you hired does not have any knowledge in anime or cosplaying. I suggest that you should consult the seamstress first and talk about the costume and the appropriate fabric measurements for your size.

Yeah I admit I can't sew the costume myself because I don't have any knowledge to do it. And I just got the finished product just this afternoon and here's what it looks like:

Tadaa! Ain't it awesome? I was kind of excited to wear the wig with it then take a good teaser shot but laziness got the best of me so please please bear with the 'peace yow' teaser photo. :)

Will update you guys more on this cosplay. This one is becoming my favorite next to the Ichigo cosplay. :)
