REVIEW - Vanilla Eyes Contact Lens Maple Aqua Blue

Hey guys! So I found another brand of contact lenses which I absolutely came to love every time I use it for my cosplays.

Introducing...
VANILLA EYES MAPLE AQUA BLUE

DIA: 15.0
Manufactured: 2013/02
Shelf Life: 2018/02

Before we begin...
This is a non-sponsored review. I bought this contact lenses with my own money.

Anyway, I had a favorite pair of blue contact lenses which was Spectrum Angel Blue. By the time my pair expired, my supplier related was out of stock when I wanted to purchase so I opted to try a new brand which was in promo that time. (Buy 2 for a low price plus free shipping!)

(READ: REVIEW: SPECTRUM Angel Blue Circle Lens)

I love the packaging of Vanilla Eyes. It came with a box that securely fits the vials which is actually good when the lenses are in transit. The design was very eye-catchy and the vials were well labeled. It came with a user manual which contains the dos and dont's when handling circle lenses.

The Maple series has this two-tone design that gives you the effect of having real colored eyes.
The lenses are actually in 15mm size but the design is only at actual iris size so no enlargement effect is seen when it is worn.

Still, the total two-tone effect is really what makes me like about this pair. Even with my natural dark brown eyes, the color is still vivid when worn.

The lenses are light on the eyes and discomfort after long-time use is minimal.

Comparison photo posted below:

In conlcusion...

Positive points:
Two-tone design makes it look like the color of lenses is your natural eye color.
Color still vivid even when worn on dark-colored eyes.
Minimal discomfort when worn for a few hours.
Visible even on low light conditions.

Negative points:
No enlargement visible when worn.
Difficult to put on.

Positive points on the seller:
Great packaging, sent with manual and awesome promo!

Will I purchase another one soon?
DEFINITELY! I would like to try the Maple grey. And if they will host another promo, there's a chance that I might buy more than 2 pairs of lenses!

Thank you for reading and good night!

REVIEW: SPECTRUM Angel Blue Circle Lens

Circle lenses are optional in cosplaying (in my opinion) but still lots of cosplayers wear a pair when they cosplay to achieve that anime-like large eyes. I personally like wearing circle lenses because I want to accurately cosplay a character - eye color included.

This is a non-sponsored review. I bought this contact lenses with my own money.

So anyway, today I am going to talk about this pair of blue contact lenses that I have come to love every time I wear it.

Introducing:

Spectrum Brand Angel Blue Cosmetic Contact Lens

Lens Details:
Origin: South Korea
Diameter: 15mm
Base Curve: 8.6
Water: 38%
Power: Plano
Life Span: 1 year

I don't want to spend a lot for a pair of lenses that aren't not vivid when worn. Most contact lenses' vividness depends on ones natural eye color. So for cosplayers out there who have dark-colored irises like me, choosing the right pair that will turn out vibrant when worn must be carefully done. I can safely say that most cosplayers don't want to spend lots of money on the wrong pair of lenses. (Cosplayers have other things to spend on too.)

I wasn't able to find previous reviews of this brand so buying this was a gamble. On the other hand, this would make me the first blogger to try this brand on and write a review about it.

Spectrum Angel Blue

What I love about this pair:
I am loving the simple design of this series. It's similar to GEO's Angel series and Crystal's Opal series. Compared to my previous favorite pair of lens, the Crystal lens that I ordered (which I thought was a very vivid pair), the Spectrum Angel Blue is now on my number spot in terms of vibrancy. Despite the fact that I have dark brown eyes (almost black), my eyes turned blue when I wore it. The simple design made it look like blue was my natural eye color. The black ring around the circle lens enlarged my eyes, which was good for my cosplays. (Anime characters tend to have large eyes.)
I didn't feel any discomfort the first time I wore it. I wore it up to 6 hours before feeling the need to remove it.

What I dislike about this pair:
It is actually difficult to fish out the lenses from its case. And a bit difficult to put on because of its thinness. (One must be very careful not to tear the lens when putting it on.)

Will I purchase another one soon?
Yes, definitely. I am so excited to purchase other colors from this series and brand. I hope they are as vivid as this.

Thank you so much for reading my short review.

The Accidental Stella

I was thinking of characters with blonde hair when a Final Fantasy character came into my mind. Nope, it's not Tidus or Riku. It's Stella! :)

Stella Nox Fleuret is a character in Final Fantasy Versus XIII, an upcoming RPG game. The character is still to be released so I only know little about her.

Anyway, I did not miss the part where she got layered blonde hair and purple eyes - which reminded me of a recent selca shot of that wig trial that I did with purple contact lenses:

So I tweaked the photo above a bit then I added headshot of Stella that I got from here and voila! :)

Been thinking of doing a real Stella makeup trial with this wig styled that way. And maybe wear a few pieces similar to Stella's outfit, for fun. :)

What do you think?

MAKEUP REVIEW: kkcenterhk.com pen eyeliner

I have always wanted to try using a pen eyeliner so I was glad when I received one for review from KKCENTERHK.com

And now...
I present to you my review on kkcenterhk.com YANQINA 36 Hour Lasting Waterproof Precision Liquid Eyeliner.

My very first pen eyeliner!
The tip of the liner
The company's description of the product:
  • Brand New With Original Retail Packing Box
  • 100% Authentic
  • Smudge-proof and waterproof for 36 hours
  • Elongates your lash line to shape and define eyes like never before.
  • Our flexible felt tip glides on smoothly for the most precise control
  • No tugging, No Dragging
  • Net Weight :3g
  • Price:  8.01 USD

What I love...
What I love about this liner is that it's so easy to use and does not mess up when I applied it. It also dries off quickly, but it depends on how many swipes you do (quick dry for a couple of swipes!). Also, the liner is very black, which is a big YES for me. A few swipes and you have totally black line on your eyes!

Notice the face marks I have done? Well, what I also like about this liner is that it's perfect for applying face marks. The YANQINA pen liner is easy to use in drawing any markings needed when I am applying cosplay makeup which requires different face markings.

I was tigress (no particular anime character) and I used the liner to draw whiskers and the nose. :3

Rawr! Kon and me!
Additional pluses on this product:
  • No funny smell of any kind.
  • Wore it for a few hours, and I did not feel any irritation or discomforts whatsoever.
  • Pen-size eyeliner, which is easy to carry and store in my everyday makeup kit.
Swatches I made
So I did swatches on my hand. The first one is a swatch which I moisten it a bit to test if it's waterproof Unfortunately it smudged on my hand. The middle one is a single swatch, and the bottom is a double swatch.

So the negative part of the liner:
It's not a waterproof eyeliner. So if you tear up or sweat hard, it will smudge off.

Would I recommend this product?
Definitely! It's an affordable liner that's worth your money.

That's it! I hope you like my review. What other characters can you think of that needs face marks? I think the Vocaloid Matryoshka team have a lot of markings on their face.

ZYLORDS - A Visual Kei Video and Photo Shoot (First Batch of Photos)

This is a not-so-recent photo shoot by our cosplay/otaku group (well, we were once part of ZANEC but all of us dropped out of it almost at the same time).

This was a Visual Kei shoot, a style common among Japanese bands which constitute members wearing extravagant and or distinctive costumes, makeup and hairstyles.

Our version of Visual Kei inclined more on gothic-styled costumes, makeup and hairstyles. Black dominated most of our getups, with chains and studded accessories to complete the look. We had to design our costumes from scratch, since this is not a cosplay shoot - when our costumes were imitated from a character's entire physical appearance.

This was, by far, the hardest and most flamboyant shoot that I have participated. Most of our effort went into wearing and transforming ourselves into one of the most popular style or fashion in Japan. This was also our first try on video shooting. It was tiring but fun to do.

Anyway, enough talk. Here is the first batch of photos released by our shoot leader. More photos and the final set will be released very soon so watch out for it!

Money well spent: Perona figure and Contact Lenses!

Been inactive because of my hospital duty. I have been assigned in the operating room from 3pm to 11pm for the past two days now. In the morning, I prepare what I need for the shift and when I get home, I just slump to my bed and sleep. LOL.

Anyway, yesterday I received  two things I splurged my one week allowance into. I was not actually expecting both to come at the same time, but yeah. :D

A pair of Peronas...
First is a pair of chibi figures of Perona!

Remember Lara from my previous post? Well, she bought a set of three chibi figs from Manila and she sold these two to me since she only wanted to keep one.

I really love Perona! I want to take photos of these babies like the one I did on my other Perona fig. Maybe this time, I'll have the time to build a proper studio for this shoot!

A package from GWYSHOP!
So here's a photo of the package that arrived at my mom's office.

Yeah, about that. I always have my packages sent to my mom's office because most of the time, nobody's home to receive it.

The package contains two pairs of lenses from GWYSHOP! :) I have not opened it yet because I am planning to write a review on the lenses. I want to cover everything, from the packaging and all. Presentation counts, right?

I bought them for 499php only, free shipping! It's a new line of contact lenses from the shop, with one year life span and 14.8mm in diameter. One pair is purple, for my Lelouch cosplay and the other is gray - for that Sayuri of Memoirs of a Geisha makeup experiment.

Oh yeah, the free shipping promo only applies when you shop worth of 400php from the GWYSHOP MULTIPLY ACCOUNT. What are you waiting for? :)

I was glad to find both pairs in one shop. Plus the awesome promo is awesome! I hope I can find extra time very soon to write the lens review. Can't wait!

Thank you Gwyshop for the awesome transaction!
