CEE COSPLAYS: Crystal Maiden

Hey guys!
So most of you who are avid followers of my instagram and twitter accounts know that I am a huge dota2 player (DoTA2 or Defense of the Ancients 2 is a free to play Multiplayer Online Battle Arena game by the company Valve). I actually have at around 3000+ hours of playing the game according to my Steam account (whoops!).

And so, because of my love of this game, I pulled of a Crystal Maiden cosplay when I got invited to judge a local cosplay competition at my alma mater. (Crystal Maiden is one of the playable heroes in the game).

Crystal Maiden

It was a short notice to have me judge an event so instead of having a seamstress make the costume for me, I was able to find a ready-made one online for a fraction of a price! (It was a sale by a cosplay shop and it was ready to ship!)

A post shared by The Empress Cee 👑 (@yourstrulyceedotcom) on

I added the embellishment on the raw costume to enhance it's accuracy. It was difficult to sew in sequins and my hand hurt while doing it but it turned out beautifully when I was done with it!

Thank goodness the costume fit me! It's as if it was actually made for me.

I had a lot of fun cosplaying Crystal Maiden since a lot of people recognized my character. (Yay for Dota2!)

Me signing and giving out coscards while we wait out for the program proper.
Look at how happy I am as Crystal Maiden! It was actually a dream come true for me! YAY!
Me with the other judges of the event.
L-R: Jc, Ben and Lara.
I wasn't able to take lots of photos because I was busy judging the event! Nevertheless, I enjoyed each and every contestants costumes and presentation and I was proud that more and more new people are taking cosplay as a hobby. It was nice to see the local community grow from a group of hobbyists to a larger number of enthusiasts eager to enhance their craft.

Look at how amazed I am watching new faces on-stage.

The costume still needs a lot of improvement. I have already fixed a lot of unstable parts and I am looking forward to wear it again and to show my love for this hero!

These are some of the photos I grabbed from people who asked for a photo of me. Thank you so much for saying hi and I hope to see you more on the next cosplay event in the city!

UPCOMING EVENT: Kgath V: Hallyu Invasion

Are you ready for the fifth installment of Zamboanga's KPop Gathering? Yes you heard it right! It's the fifth year for KMONERX KGathering and I have never missed one!

#KGATH5
April 9, 2017
Sapphire Ballroom
Grand Astoria Hotel
Zamboanga City

I will still be one of the judges for this year's KCosplayer contest, and it will be a pair competition for the first time!

Of course, like last year, I brainstormed on what to wear/who to cosplay this year. I wore my hanbok for the first KGath and dressed up as Chae Kyung of Goon for the second KGath. I did a Minzy-from-falling-in-love-inspired coord for the third one (which I still haven't written a report yet. Sorry >..<) and did Queen CL from Crush for last year.

Now I have decided to do SNSD's Seohyun from their Mr. Mr. dance video:
photo from pinterest
I totally love SNSD's songs and I can't wait to do Seohyun (she's a great KDrama actress as well).
I posted a teaser shot on my twitter and it already gained a response! LOL

I can't wait to meet everyone. They already released the list of KCosplayers for that day as well! Hope to see your all of wonderful performances this Sunday!

See you there~

CEE COSPLAY: Super Sonico

Hey loves, yours truly is back... and this time, for good!

I have been so out of the blogging world ever since I graduated and got a full-time day job.

How ironic, I actually wanted a paying job just to continue funding my makeup reviews, blog, giveaways and whatnot and but sadly it took a lot of my day time and finally, when I get back home... I just can't find the energy to write. Sigh**

Well anyway, now that I have finally found a way to manage my time, let me start posting backlog photos starting with my Super Sonico photos.

I actually started to like Sonico after my favorite cosplayer, Ying Tze, cosplayed her during her visit to the Philippines (Which I totally missed because of work. SAD).

Super Sonico is a fictional female character created by Tsuji Santa for the Japanese computer and video game software company Nitroplus, first appearing as a mascot for a Nitroplus-sponsored music festival in 2006. (Source: Wikipedia)

I did my own headphones, that's why it doesn't look as good as Sonico's. I also lack her guitar and stars necklace because at that time it is currently out of stock. :(
(At least I get to improve this cosplay next time I do it, right?)
I also did the bow I used here and as well as the designing of the foot wear. I placed kanzashi flowers on it to make it look accurate.

I do hope I get to wear this super cute costume again. I love how accurate and well-made it is (thanks to my seamstress). The skirt is just too short to wear while moving around a lot.

Reference photo used.
From google images

My favorite part of this whole costume is the fluffy skirt which has three pleated layers. I was planning on sewing some horse hair on the hem to make it fluffier but I'm afraid that it would make it a lot shorter. Can't have some pantsu shots while in cosplay! >o<

My photographers that day were Gail and Sheed of HaruSuika. We shot this at Jardin Maria Clara in Pasonanca, Zamboanga City.

How do you like my Super Sonico photos? What would you like for me to cosplay next? Let me hear your thoughts!

If you don't mind...

TEASER: Super Sonico Cosplay Shoot

Hey guys!

So last Mindanao Cosplay Summit, some peeps were asking me for coscards and sadly, I forgot to bring them that day. (I wasn't cosplaying that day tho)
I did find my stash of cards later on but I realized that I haven't printed new ones last year and I've been giving out outdated cards with my inactive e-mail on it! ACK!

So I resorted on asking my friends to shoot one of my new costumes for a fresh batch of cards and they gladly participated even on the short notice.

I was planning on wearing Mari's seifuku of Prison School but unfortunately the zipper on the skirt broke in the last minute. Phew.

So I chose to wear Super Sonico since I haven't had any decent photos of this cosplay ever since I had it made.

KAH! Sentimental Sonico >_<
Anyway, after quickly skimming the set of photos we got that day, I now have a rough draft on what my next coscard will look like:

I am also thinking of printing a few of these photos in 3R or 4R sizes. Maybe it's a good way to promote my blog to more potential readers. Hopefully I can keep up in writing and updating my site every once in a while~

With my friends' help, I got new cosplay photos good for coscards and maybe cosplay prints.
Thank you so so much Gail and Sheed for doing this with me!

Watch out for the whole set of my Super Sonico cosplay and samplers of the coscards I want to print and trade this year - I already made 4 different designs. Hoping to find a decent print shop to produce these~

Thank you so much for staying with me! Til the next post~

#CosCom2015 - Nihon Fure Ai Kai (Cosplay Judge gig)

And this is it! I was once again part of the judging group for the WMSU College of Nursing Nihon Fure Ai Kai (A Touch of Japan Club) Cosplay Competition last Sept 9, 2015 during the WMSU Palaro!

Nihon Fure Ai Kai is a school-based Japanese club that sponsors Japanese language classes to interested nursing students who want to practice their career in Japan. To promote the club they host Japanese culture events like the maid cafe and the popular cosplay event.

I am an alumna of this club and this is my second time judging the event. I went as Esdeath with my fellow alumna Shermina as Mine from Akame Ga Kill. We've been spazzing all about this anime that we synced our costumes that day. :D

Ignore the bag. LOL
Esdeath and Mine from Akame ga Kill
It was fun to see the blooming cosplay community in my alma mater. When I was a student here, cosplaying is still unpopular and we got these all kinds of looks from people whenever we parade in costumes. I am glad that more and more people got interested in the hobby. The number of contestants and spectators are a proof of this!

Meet the rest of the judges:
Me and my derpy face. kekeke

After everybody has performed their skits (twas awesome, I don't think I can do those moves), one emerged as champion.

She cosplayed Korra from Avatar Legend of Korra. Congratulations on winning the second NFAK #CosCom2015!
Winners of the #CosCom2015
Korra - Legend of Korra, Cleric of Dragon Nest and Yuno Gasai of Mirai Nikki
I saw some new faces among the contestants. I got to meet some new peeps and make new cosplay friends!

Thank you so so much WMSU for the warm reception and your enthusiasm on cosplay.
See you soon!

More photos below. Click on to enlarge the smaller ones. ^_^

PS:
I gotta practice being more in-character than smiling on every photo op. Can't stop feeling happy when I see familiar faces. Teehee!

REVIEW - Vanilla Eyes Contact Lens Maple Aqua Blue

Hey guys! So I found another brand of contact lenses which I absolutely came to love every time I use it for my cosplays.

Introducing...
VANILLA EYES MAPLE AQUA BLUE

DIA: 15.0
Manufactured: 2013/02
Shelf Life: 2018/02

Before we begin...
This is a non-sponsored review. I bought this contact lenses with my own money.

Anyway, I had a favorite pair of blue contact lenses which was Spectrum Angel Blue. By the time my pair expired, my supplier related was out of stock when I wanted to purchase so I opted to try a new brand which was in promo that time. (Buy 2 for a low price plus free shipping!)

(READ: REVIEW: SPECTRUM Angel Blue Circle Lens)

I love the packaging of Vanilla Eyes. It came with a box that securely fits the vials which is actually good when the lenses are in transit. The design was very eye-catchy and the vials were well labeled. It came with a user manual which contains the dos and dont's when handling circle lenses.

The Maple series has this two-tone design that gives you the effect of having real colored eyes.
The lenses are actually in 15mm size but the design is only at actual iris size so no enlargement effect is seen when it is worn.

Still, the total two-tone effect is really what makes me like about this pair. Even with my natural dark brown eyes, the color is still vivid when worn.

The lenses are light on the eyes and discomfort after long-time use is minimal.

Comparison photo posted below:

In conlcusion...

Positive points:
Two-tone design makes it look like the color of lenses is your natural eye color.
Color still vivid even when worn on dark-colored eyes.
Minimal discomfort when worn for a few hours.
Visible even on low light conditions.

Negative points:
No enlargement visible when worn.
Difficult to put on.

Positive points on the seller:
Great packaging, sent with manual and awesome promo!

Will I purchase another one soon?
DEFINITELY! I would like to try the Maple grey. And if they will host another promo, there's a chance that I might buy more than 2 pairs of lenses!

Thank you for reading and good night!
