Otaku Adventures: ATFEST 2012 Last Day Appreciation

A very late post for you guys: My visit to the Ateneo Fiesta 2012! My Atenean friends invited me to raid the school... in a different style.

*All photos were taken by Sheed. :)

Me as the Dinosaur, Gin as the Panda and Shiba as the Tiger

The school's atmosphere was really festive! I saw lots of stalls and food stands everywhere. Too bad I was not able to take photos of those stalls since I was not handling the camera day.

Anyway, we dressed up in pajamas when we got inside the campus and then headed to the carnival rides. We tried the Octopus ride since Shiba said it was a lot more fun than the caterpillar ride and the Ferris wheel combined. So we packed up our courage and strutted our stuff to the site.

We looked like we were plotting something here. Oh well. Look at our tails!
And since I still don't have the files of the video blog that we recorded DURING our ride, here's a teaser video taken by our good friend Sheed (with Ralhpy) while they were watching us from below.

WATCH IN HD!
Look at my face!! LOL

After the ride, we headed to a Japanese food stall where they sell real Japanese food prepared by a real Japanese chef!

I was puking rainbows the minute I smelled food. In my mind, I felt like I was in a real Japanese school fest. (Oh, every otaku's dream :p)
These pajamas made us sweat real hard.
Photo from my instagram
This what I ate that time. Similar-to-chicken-fillet-that-I-forgot-the-real-name with rice! Oh it was really satisfying!

The owner of the stall took out his camera and took photos of us! How nice!
And then... OUR FOOD! Do we look like legit endorsers now?

The kind chef obliged to a photo op we requested. Gin the Panda calls him Oji-san.
Oji-san, I LOVE YOUR FOOD!
Talking with Oji-san was like watching an anime. I needed subtitles. But it was still an awesome experience!
Photos with the staff of the food stall. Thank you for preparing our delicious orders!
After eating, we toured the campus and browsed a few interesting stalls. I bought a souvenir for my mom - a cellphone charm!

It was a very fun afternoon! I wished I got a few more photos for you guys but oh well, we did took a series of shots for a GIF, as a tradition. :))

Thank you for reading and welcome 2013!

Kigurumi Party and Shoot

Tiger: Shiba, Doraemon: 96neko, Frog: Kaito, Stitch: Cee, Mokona: Kei, Shark-u: Gairu, Dino: Fran

Organized a mini Kigurumi shoot at my place. Mom prepared lotsa food for us!
I don't usually invite just anybody to my place so these people here are my close friends. :D

We started the party with a Japanese movie entitled 'Battle Royale'. This gore movie was spoiled (a lot of times I tell you) by Doraemon and Shark-u. LOL.

Watching Battle Royale like it's a comedy film. We laughed when someone gets killed. whutda
Battle Royale is a Japanese gore film based from a novel.

Then we paused for a break for our lunch courtesy of mom. Spaghetti and Coke = perfect combination!
It's a party, right? So yeah, eat up guys!

After the movie, I took out a DVD of a cosplay event where Marigin, Kei and I cosplayed female anime characters. We were so embarrassed that time and sworn to cosplay only male characters from now on. :DD
That's Kei as a character from Vampire Knight.
Then finally, after laughing so hard for being so girly in that cosplay event, we changed in to our kigurumis (or mascot pajamas) for the shoot.

Well, it's not actually a formal shoot. We were laughing and having fun during the entire shoot proper. We all had a cute stuffy to represent our kigurumi, well except me coz I don't have a Stitch stuffed toy.

Forgive my messy room. LOL
Bubbles!! Hurrrr!

I have to say, Gail is the prettiest kigurumi that day!

Here are the final photos of that day's party.

I am pretty much satisfied with the results since what I wanted to capture that time were the genuine laughter and enjoyment that I wanted to preserve forever.

Kigurumi Fever in Zamboanga!

I organized a kigurumi parade last March 25, 2012 after successfully raiding Zamboanga in our pajamas on my birthday celebration. My friends saw my photos of my birthday trip with my best friend and they suggested that I should organize a kigurumi parade and invite more people to participate. It was not a bad idea and a few of my friends joined and and bought their own kigurumis for the parade.

BTW, a kigurumi is a mascot pajama of animals and popular characters like Hello Kitty and Pikachu. This form of fashion is famous in the streets of Japan and kigurumi wearers usually put on their pajamas like any other clothing and hang out in malls or along the streets.

Me and my friends wanted to try wearing our kigurumis and parade around town and to see how people will react after seeing a bunch of kids in animal pajamas.

We got mixed feedback from the townsfolk. Some people gave us big smiles, some gave as a confused look but most of them ignored us even though we really stood out that day.

On with the parade!

Our first activity of the day was to watch Hunger Games on the cinema. We put on our pajamas before going inside the cinema and people just stared at us the moment we went in. I heard some said "Seriously?" with a tone that suggested that she thought we were crazy idiots in clown costumes. I just laughed it off and concluded that that was the best comment I have ever heard so far. We did not mind other people's reactions and just sat back and enjoyed the movie.

Here we are in Mindpro Citimall!
We decided to raid the other malls in the city, still in pajamas. We were enjoying our time in playful outfits.

Just outside Gateway mall. We were off to spend time in Gamezone.
Gamezone was not that crowded that day. Yipee!

Dino-girl on the dancepad!
Well, have you seen a dinosaur dance before? Theresa, the girl inside the dinosaur pajama, joined this kid here on the dance pad. I think the kid was distracted by his opponent's getup, as you can see here on the photo.

We met a few friends while in Gateway and posed for a few photos. LOL. That was a little bit awkward.
After hanging out for a few minutes in Gamezone, we went down to the grocery to buy a few snacks to go OMNOMNOM.

I love how the reaction of those kids were captured on the photo.

Omnom time! Ice cream, chitchats and more photos.

This photo reminded me of the quote "Rawr means I love you in dinosaur!"
It was actually a fun Sunday afternoon! I know you guys are still puzzled as to why we did this but let me tell you one thing me and my friends have in common: we were not afraid to try out new things especially when these are connected to Japan or the Japanese culture. Actually, most of us are cosplayers and otakus so we were not ashamed of dressing up differently in public.

The most important thing that day was to enjoy the experience of being different in a fun way. And we were one of the first ones to costrip the kigurumis (cosplay/dress up casually) in Zamboanga City. Ain't it a good experience for us all?
