Open Cosplay Photoshoot Day 1

These photos were taken last February 19, 2012 during the Open Cosplay Photoshoot organized by my good friend and assisted by yours truly. (Although I was not a big help :p)

It was  supposed to be an exclusive photoshoot with Tekken characters but then an idea came up and I suggested it to be an open shoot where everybody can dress up any character they like. I expected a handful of cosplayers will show up but a lot of people contacted us, asking to be a part of it. After so many adjustments, scheduling and online meetings, we decided to ask for help from other photographers. Gladly, a team volunteered to be a part of it and all went well on the day of the shoot.

What happened on that day?
I'll tell you what happened on the first and second day then the final shots. I was one of the photographers of the second day so I got to practice a lot with nice cosplayers.

I was Ichigo Kurosaki on the first day and part Misa Amane on the second. :D

FIRST DAY
Here I am with Light Yagami.
Okay so I lead all the foolishness on the first day. LOL. Here's a few shots behind the shoot.

This sexy girl beside me (her back IS SEXY) is Lara. She is so nice, she gave me a  Death Note for my birthday.

Bea and Jet. Jet here saved us when we got lost. :D

With my partner in crime doing foolish poses. Meet Bernice!

I don't know what we're talking about but I love this shot. I call it "The Wig Family".

Prep time! I was combing Ciara's wig when Ate V took a shot of us. Ninja Ichigo blending in with the shirt? :)

All jokes aside, here are the final shots of the first day of the shoot. I can only post my Ichigo photos here. For the other shots, click here.

FINALLY! I got to be Ichigo Kurosaki of Bleach. The wig was bought about a year ago, never knowing when I will actually cosplay the character. The sword was made by my dad. I showed him a photo of it and VOILA! He made it in about a week. Then I had the Bankai costume made for a cosplay event last December but sadly it was not pushed through. When I was actually giving up on cosplaying him, my friend came up with this cosplay shoot. Since it was not a themed shoot, I decided to go as Kurosaki-kun. :)

It was fun that day. Especially when my friends threw a surprise party for me for my birthday. Yaay! Imagine Ichigo in a party hat. (Nevermind, here's a photo of it. :D)

Jev asTsunayoshi and Cee as Ichigo
Well, it was nice seeing a few familiar faces and meeting new ones as well. Widening our cosplay friends circle!

Yeah, I know how to destroy a photo. Take the last one as an example. :D

Featured Cosplayer: Lara Florentes

My first cosplayer feature in this blog! Yeah, I've been adding new topics on this blog like this cosplayer feature and the 'anime review' posts.

I am particularly focusing on Zamboanga-based cosplayers to promote the growing cosplay community of our little town. It may be a small group, but we do hella good cosplays here!

Presenting Lara: Cosplaying since January, 2012

Lara is one of the two best Misa Amane cosplayers I know (The other one is Azumi). She nailed our beloved Misa-Misa from the live action movie of Death Note. With her gorgeous smile and mysterious eyes, no wonder she's also a model here in Zamboanga.

"What is cosplay for me? It is an addictive hobby where you get to dress up as your favorite anime character and play/act like you are your favorite character "

She learned all about cosplay years back when she was fourteen years old. She made her debut on the second cosplay event here, the MCTV Movie Mania, cosplaying as Misa Amane from the live action movie.

Lara looks up to these three cosplay idols: cosplay queen Alodia Gosiengfiao and Saya and Kaname of Japan.

When asked about her future plans, she said that she'll keep it a secret because she wants to surprise everybody on her next cosplay. We'll definitely watch out for that, Lar!

Her message for other cosplayers out there:
Dream big, start small. Make friends and not foes. But never get too much to you. Limit yourselves and take control of reality. kiotsukette!

Open Cosplay Photoshoot Day 2

Day Two of the Open Cosplay Shoot! A lot of cosplayers reached out to us, asking if they can be a part of a shoot so we did not have any choice but to let them in. It was still fun though a little bit crowded on the venue. We saw new faces on that day too! So happy to have met you guys! :)

It was one of my first cosplay shoots with my new camera and it was a little difficult at first but still I learned a lot with the help of another photographer: Kei.

Enough of that. LOL. These are some behind-the-scene photos from that day:

This is one interesting photo. We (Kei and I) were shooting Bea here when Kei rushed to a our bags to get something. I think Bea was asking the people on the steps if Reji (the next cosplayer) is now ready for his shoot.

This is Lara! She's a new friend and she's very nice. She was Misa Amane on the first day and a kawaii maid on the second. Can I hire her? Please? :D
I took a photo of her (first shot) without her knowledge, then a "Hey Lara" on the second. That's why she looks a little bit unprepared.

Fooling around next. I did minimal antics that day since I was wearing not-so comfortable clothes. Haha.

Haha I don't know what's wrong with me here. wtf. :D

Well, we love the "pogi" sign. From L-R: Jet, Cee, Angelo, Bernice and Reji

Another group photo. Awesome cosplayers! Thank you guys for being being awesome!

It was nice to bond with people who have similar interests. I had so much fun that day! Thank you to all of you guys!

PS: I got this awesome photo of real men jumping like gays. *clapclap

Watch out for my post about my shots on this shoot!
